My name's Natsumi Sawada. I'm a psychologist and meditation teacher.
I am passionate about using psychology and mindfulness to help people live meaningful, peaceful, and joyful lives.
My role as a psychologist is to help people understand what is keeping them stuck, learn and apply tools and strategies to cope with their difficulties, gain confidence, and work towards their goals within a safe and supportive context.
I like science and my approach to therapy is grounded in science-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
I love mindfulness and yoga and I am fascinated by the mind-body connection. I frequently integrate my knowledge of this into my work.
I am skilled, effective, caring, down to earth, and easy to talk to and I draw on a wealth of experience treating a wide range of difficulties.
I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University and 10 years of experience as a psychologist in private practice, clinical research, hospital, and community settings.
I love my work and I'm energized and so inspired by the changes I see my clients making every day. I hope you will get in touch and look forward to helping you make good things happen in your life.
I was born and raised in Vancouver and started my practice there but since 2018 I call Edmonton home. I continue to maintain ties to Vancouver and I'm licensed in BC as well as Alberta. Although my physical office is located in Edmonton, I provide online therapy and almost half of my clients are based in Vancouver and the rest of BC.
